Discover App: Tablet FAQ

Minimum Device Requirements 


There are some minimum device requirements when using the Discover app on your centre's tablet. Please refer to the table below when making decisions regarding purchasing devices for your centre's use. 

Please note: We recommend a Tablet display size of at least 10" as devices smaller than this may experience less-than-optimal screen resolution.

A parent/guardian can't login on the tablet or is seeing "invalid pin"


First, check the child is enrolled on the current day, otherwise you will see an invalid pin message. The tablet must be registered with "0000" first. If this has not been completed, you can follow the process below:


  1. Search for "daycaremobile" in the Apple App Store or Discover Childcare in the Google Play Store. 
  2. Install the app and when prompted, allow Discover to send you notifications
  3. Open Discover and enter "0000" to access the one time setup authentication
  4. Put in your email address and secret token which can be found in Discover > Centre Set Up > Setup Tablet



Will a parent/guardian with children in different rooms be able to sign both children out via the one tablet and at the same time?

 

Yes, when parents/guardians login, they will be able to see all children they have authorisation to pick up on one screen, regardless of the room. They will be able to press an icon to choose which children they are picking up or dropping off.




Will teachers be able to sign-in/out a child if the parent/guardian forgets?

 

If the parent forgets to sign in or out, they will also automatically be prompted for the time when they next pick up or drop off the child. 





Teachers can also sign out children using the centre pin, or their staff pin, if the parent/guardian forgets.  



Is a physical signature required for sign in/out?


If you are not using Electronic Attendance Verification, parents would need to sign off attendance once per week on paper. This can be done by printing the Weekly Attendance Report. There is also a version for individual children if needed.

There are children missing from the tablet?


First check and confirm that the tablet is connected to the internet and that the child has an NSN assigned via their profile in Discover. 
Ensure your device is running the latest version of the app and update if required. 

Login to the Discover app with the Centre PIN and click the Refresh button at the top right of the screen to reconnect with Discover.


Can parents/guardians load the Discover app on their own devices? 


Parents/Guardians can download the Discover app on their own device, however, without the centre's specific login in credentials, they will not be able to access the sign in/out screen for their children.

 


How can a Fire Drill/Evacuation be completed if I don't have access to internet?


We recommend  putting the tablet into Flight Mode or turning off WIFI on the tablet, which would activate Discover app in offline mode.


Alternatively, you could connect to a nearby hotspot, such as your mobile device.
