Playground: Printing Guide

Modified on Tue, 18 Jun at 2:07 PM

Whilst Playground has been designed to view and share children's learning documentation with families digitally, there are also a number of ways to print and save you and your team's work.

Before following any steps below, please ensure you are using Playground with Google Chrome and/or have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in order to view PDFs. You can install Chrome here and Adobe Acrobat Reader is available for download here.

Print Selections in Playground

Depending on the type of documentation you have created, a number of options may be available to you when choosing to print. The following options can be toggled on or off depending on your preferences when printing Posts, Documents, Canvases or Tables:

  • Description
  • Future Plans
  • Learning Outcomes
  • Tagged Children
  • Reflections
  • Created Date
  • Teacher Name - Author
  • Updated At

You also have the option to select whether you'd like to print in portrait or landscape when creating Documents, Canvases and Tables.

Saving as a PDF File

While you can print all Playground content straight to your printer, you may also want to save these as PDF files to share with others digitally or for record keeping purposes.

  1. Start in the Posts, Documents, Canvas or Tables tab.
  2. Press on the content you wish to print. Click on the ‘Print’ button in the top right hand corner of the pop-up.
  3. Check the paper size and options for printing. If you decide to print the Outcomes, Children Tagged and Reflections, these will print on a seperate page at the end of the document.
  4. Press the ‘Print’ button in the top right corner.
  5. Select the drop-down under ‘Destination’ and select the ‘Save as PDF’ option. Select a destination for the file. Press ‘Print’ when you are ready.
  6. The file will now save on your computer as a PDF file, ready to use!

Print Multiple Pages

Printing Posts, Documents, Canvases and and Tables across multiple pages gives you the option to you to create larger scale prints which you can display at your centre in prime viewing areas for educators, teachers and visitors!

You will need to have downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to complete this and have saved the documentation as a PDF.

  1. Open the PDF using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Use the link above if you need to download the program.
  2. Press the ‘Print’ button in the top left, under the File menu.
  3. Press the ‘Poster’ button under Page Sizing & Handling. Configure the tile scale as desired.
  4. This will automatically split the PDF across multiple pages, depending on how large the images are.
  5. Press ‘Print’ when you are ready. You may need to adjust your printer settings to select the correct paper size.
