Parent PINs

Modified on Fri, 31 May at 11:32 AM

Parents/Guardians use their their unique pin number to sign into the Discover App on the centre tablet to see a list of children they can drop-off or pick-up for the current day.

If parents forget during sign in/out, centres are advised to have a blank sign-in form to manage such exceptions. Centres can input the drop-off or pick-up time in the Attendance screen directly and a physical signature required)

Please note: With a recent focus on privacy from the MOE, we’ve updated the display of PINs against contact records in Discover. PINs will be obfuscated on the Child Contacts tab and the Edit Profile screen, with an eye icon to reveal the number. Reports and emails are unaffected, but we highly recommend encouraging parents and guardians to commit these PINs to memory to ensure another user doesn’t access their child’s data.

Locating and Changing PINs

You can find parent/guardian PINs in a Child's Profile > Contacts tab > Contact Details.

Notifying Parents/Guardians of PINs

Bulk Communications allows admins to send all contacts a personalised email with their pin number.

  1. Navigate to Bulk Communication.
  2. Select 'Email' (an optional template is included below)*

OR

  • Run the Child Contacts Report and in the report options, choose to include the Access Pin field in your report. Print and keep this report handy to share with families as needed.

  • Provide staff with the Centre Pin number (located in Centre Settings > Centre Details tab) to see a list of children and look up pin numbers for parents/guardians if necessary.

*Dear [FirstName], we are switching to using tablets rather than the paper daily sign in sheets.
The Ministry of Education still require you to sign on paper once per week to confirm your child's times, however on a day to day basis you can use our tablet to record the times. All you need to do is put in your access pin, which is [AccessPin]
