Home App: Care Learning Timeline

Modified on Thu, 11 Apr 2024 at 02:01 PM

The learning timeline within Home App gives Parent/Guardians the ability to view a holistic timeline of their child/children's learning journey from the centre they are enrolled in. This includes Observations, Documents and Tables as created by the educators as well as Moments the families create on the app.

Please note: Currently families are unable to view Canvas type documentation on Home App.

To view Canvas on Home web, families can take the following steps:

  1. Log in to home.myxplor.com
  2. Click on the relevant link Canvas, on the left hand side of the page
  3. Click on any visible document to view in detail

To View the Timeline in Home App

  1. Navigate to the Care tab
  2. Select View All

Viewing the Learning Timeline

Observations, Documents and Tables are created by the educators using the Playground platform. They can be viewed by families through the learning timeline on their Home App by navigating to the Care tab, View All Learning.

Families will be able to interact with educators and other families of tagged children through public comments on the published Observations, Tables, Documents and Moments.

Refreshing the Timeline

The timeline can be manually refreshed, allowing the parents/guardians to access for the most recent information on their children.

  1. Pull down at the top of the scrollable timeline until a progress indicator appears.
  2. Release and the data should start loading
  3. Once completed, the most recent information should be displayed.

Troubleshooting

Failed refresh: No network connection

When a timeline refresh fails, the timeline should visually return to how it was prior to the refresh. You will receive a notification as to what went wrong. Often this is due to a failed network connection. In this case, please check your network connection and try again.

Media

Families will be able to see any media attached to the documentation their child is tagged in. The parent/guardians will be able to view all and any attached images that have been included published documentation. User will be able to:

  • See all images
  • Swipe through the images
  • Tap on an image to view it full screen
  • Parent/guardians will be able to view and play any attached videos and hear the sound of the video. User will be able to:
  • See a thumbnail of the video
  • If enabled, see the video autoplay
  • Tap on the video to play full screen
  • Hear the audio of the video (if any)
  • Stop video playback
  • Start video playback

Comments

Families will be able to see comments on a published observation, document or table. These comments will be open to all parent/guardians of children tagged as well as educators and centre staff. Comments are created in a more communal way, comparable to facebook or instagram, and do not act as direct messages between the parent and educator.

When viewing an observation, the families should see all the comments on an observation. These could be from educators, other parent/guardians or from themselves.

  • A comment from the logged in user should appear in a grey message box on the right of the screen.
  • A comment from another parent should appear in an orange message box on the left of the screen. Only the parents first name should be visible
  • A comment from an educator should appear in a green message box on the left side of the screen.
  • Families are able to post a comment on any documentation posted. These comments are viewable by all educators at the service, and by any parents who have children tagged in the post. These are public comments.
  • Comments should post when the device is online
  • New comment should show ‘Posting’ while it is being posted.

Please note: Comment fails to post
When the device is offline, the comment should fail to post. The parent should see an error saying that the comment failed and the option to try again should appear. Tapping try again should try to post it again.
