Creating Moments

Moments are a fantastic way to capture the learning journeys of your children. These moments will be combined in the learning timeline with other documentation that gets created by their teachers. Parents can add events to their timeline to keep track of their child's learning journey. These posts are called 'Moments'.

  1. Press on Care tab.
  2. Beside the Learning title, click View All
  3. Press on the double Camera icon on the top right.
  4. Select Photo, Video, or Gallery
  5. If necessary, grant the app permission to your camera.
  6. Add a photograph/video.
  7. Write text under the description.
  8. Add a location.
  9. Tag a child if there is more than one.
  10. Press the send icon in the top right.
  11. Wait for the Moment to upload fully.
  12. Done.

  1. If necessary, grant the app permission to access the camera and microphone.
  2. Use the camera to record a video.

Capture an image

Troubleshooting

Parent cannot see any images in their gallery

If the parent has not granted the app access to their gallery, they may see an empty screen.

iOS:

  • Go to the phone Settings app and scroll to the bottom to find ‘Home’ and select it
  • Find ‘Photos’ settings and this should be listed as ‘Read and Write’
  • If not, tap into the setting and select ‘Read and Write’
  • Re-open Home and try again

Android (depending on device):

  • Go to the phone Settings app and scroll to find ‘Apps’ and select it
  • Scroll to the bottom to find Home, select it
  • Scroll down to the ‘App Settings’ section and find ‘Permissions’
  • Ensure that ‘Storage’ is toggled on
  • Re-open Home and try again

Families cannot take a photo or video

If the parent has not granted the app access to their camera, they will not be able to take a photo.

iOS:

  • Go to the phone Settings app and scroll to the bottom to find ‘Xplor Home’ and select it
  • Find ‘Camera’ settings and this should be toggle on
  • If not, tap it to change it to on (green colour)
  • Re-open Home and try again

Android (depending on device):

  • Go to the phone Settings app and scroll to find ‘Apps’ and select it
  • Scroll to the bottom to find 'Xplor Home', select it
  • Scroll down to the ‘App Settings’ section and find ‘Permissions’
  • Ensure that ‘Camera is toggled on as well as ‘Microphone’
  • Re-open Home and try again

Location searching is returning incorrect results

Location searching and tagging is powered by Google. If there are issues and the search is not returning the results you are looking for, some tips are:

  • On Android, ensure that the app has access to the devices location for better and more accurate results.
  • Go to the phone Settings app and scroll to find ‘Apps’ and select it

  • Scroll to the bottom to find Xplor Home, select it

  • Scroll down to the ‘App Settings’ section and find ‘Permissions’

  • Ensure that ‘Location’ is toggled on

  • Re-open Home and try again

  • Search for an address rather than a location, landmark or place of interest
  • At this point, no custom locations are supported

Moment failed to upload

Occasionally due to various reasons, moments and the media may fail to upload. Some tips and pointers to help prevent this:

  • Try a different network. Sometimes the wifi may be slow, try switching to mobile data instead.
  • Not all video types are supported when selecting through the gallery, try capturing a video or photo through the app instead.
  • If you are trying to upload a long video, try trimming it using your default photo editing app (ie Photos, Google Photos etc) to something shorter. The uploads will fail if they take more than 2 minutes to complete.
  • If you are having issues with a particular item selected from your gallery, try another photo or video instead.
  • For iOS, occasionally there are syncing issues between iCloud and the photos on your device. Try uploading the photo/video from the device it was taken on
