Features & Enhancements

Family Boost

  • (Released 1 July 2024) We have added the Licence Number to all invoices and statements to ensure we’re meeting the IRD requirements for families to upload their invoices via MyIR from October 2024.

  • (Released 11 July 2024) We have updated the name of the child to the Official Child Name on invoices and statements related to FamilyBoost.
  • We have created a new Quarterly Statements email template that will be used when sending Quarterly Statements. This template can be edited under Centre Setup > Templates.

My Workspace

  • We’ve added the ability for larger tasks requiring heavy processing to be moved into the background and then recalled at a later time. For any larger reports or bulk actions that take significant processing power, Discover will shift these to the background, and a button will appear next to the “Need Help?” button called “My Workspace”. Any reports or bulk actions that have an output will be stored in My Workspace against the user account and can be downloaded directly from this screen. Currently, the Aged Debtors report, when run for multiple centres, will appear in My Workspace, with more background tasks to be added in future.

Enrolment Widget

  • We have a new version of the Enrolment widget! New instructions are in the PDF available on the Setup Widgets page, with minimal changes required. This new flow reduces the seven or eight pages to four and prefills data wherever possible. It’s more secure and asks for the parent or guardian immediately rather than at the second step, meaning there is no longer any chance of creating accidental duplicates of children that were Enquiries.
Centres that have the original Enrolment Widget on their website can update to the new form simply by changing the API URL, as outlined in the PDF instructions. We have also updated the labels for the phone number fields to match what they are on the administrator view of the contact record.

Report Enhancements

  • There is now a frequent absence report that can be run across multiple services inside a Group. Under Children Reports > Ministry, there is a new report calledFrequentAbsence Summary, which will provide an overview of how many children have broken a certain frequent absence rule, and the number of recurring months those children have broken it for.
  • There is a new checkbox on the Bill Payer profile that allows administrators to shift the bill payer into Debt Collection. Because debt is handled differently across centres, this checkbox allows users to quickly identify any bill payer that has moved into a debt collection status by including this in the newly released Weekly Aged Debtors report as ‘DC’ in the Type column.
  • We have added a range of new field parameters to the Child Details report, allowing for further customisation of this report. Utilising these new parameters with the new Report Template feature will allow administrators to generate a range of different reports for many different use cases.

Bulk Action: Print Child Reports

  • A new (Centre) Bulk Action has been added to select and consolidate multiple Child Profile reports for a group of children. This will give administrators an easier way of completing their requirement to check a child’s details at least once a year. Since consolidating many Child Reports is an intensive task, the status of this task will be visible while being completed to allow a user to complete it via the recently released My Workspace feature.

ECE Hours Enhancement

  • A new field on the Enrolment page allows administrators to enter the number of ECE Hours the child is receiving elsewhere. This will impact the calculation of available ECE Hours for the enrolment. It has also been added as a parameter on the Child Details report.

Other Enhancements

  • We have highlighted the “main” Census return row to reduce confusion for centres and to ensure only one census submission per centre is provided to the Ministry. Playcentres that are not open for the highlighted rows can use any other 2024 submission row once they are added.
  • The Registered Teacher count will continue above the recommended amount to clearly show users how many registered (or non-registered classed as discretionary) teachers are rostered on for any given fifteen-minute period.

  • Additional funding rates for 2025 have been added.
  • We’re now sending additional Health information through to Playground including Special Diet and Childhood Diseases/Diagnoses. Category I and Category III Medicines are being looked into by the Playground team.
