The Discover App allows Teachers and Admins perform a range of tasks about the centre, as well as providing a quick and easy way for Children to be signed in/out.
Data is stored and synced each time the app is used, so in the event of an evacuation, the tablet always has the latest data.
Registering Your Tablet
The tablet must be registered to your centre before it can be used. If this has not been completed, you can follow the process below:
- Search for "daycaremobile" in the Apple App Store or Discover Childcare in the Google Play Store.
- Install the app and when prompted, allow Discover to send you notifications
- Open Discover and enter "0000" to access the one time setup authentication
- Put in your email address and secret token which can be found in Centre Set Up > Setup Tablet.
Tablet Settings and Features
Features
Depending on what features are enabled in your tablet, you will be able to perform a range of tasks including:
- Signing Children In/Out (Both Teachers and Parents/Guardians and Contacts)
- Conducting Roll Calls
- Marking Absences
- Completing Checklists
- Logging Sleep and Nappy Checks
- Logging Payments
- Sending Messages to Parents/Guardians
- Staff Sign-In/Out
To view which features are enabled on the Tablet at your centre, navigate to Centre Settings > Centre Details and scroll down to Tablet Settings section.
Here, select the check boxes next to which features you would like to have available on the Discover App. This menu can also be used to update/change the Centre PIN.
Click 'Save' at the bottom of the settings screen after making any changes.
Centre PINs
The Centre PIN is used to access the tablet and see a list of children currently on site. This pin can be found via Centre Settings > Access Password.
Using this pin to login to the tablet will allow the user to complete all functions as specified in the settings, in addition to providing visibility over Child Contact PINs if needed.
Attendance Verification Reminders
If your centre does not use Electronic Attendance Verification, but does use Tablets for parents to sign in at drop off or pick up times, evidence (e.g. a signed attendance register) must be retained that a parent/guardian of each child has regularly examined and confirmed the attendance record.
A reminder can be set to pop-up on the tablet that will prompt parents/guardians that they need to sign the hard copy attendance register
In Tablet Settings, next to the Tablet Signature Reminder Day field, select the day of the week you would like the reminder to appear.
Sign-In/Out Time Alterations
Parents/Guardians signing their child in/out may have the option of adjusting the time, depending on your settings.
If you would like to allow time adjustments, select a grace period from the dropdown next to 'Max Tablet Transition Time'.
