We have some exciting updates to share with our services. You can add additional subscribers to our emailed release notes here.
These features will be available to customers from 27th April 2023.
Child Profile
- The field 'Leaving Reasons' on a child profile has been enhanced to show only the original options, with “Other” allowing any other reason, without saving that reason as a new option that can be used in other child profiles.
- Māori and English are pinned to the top of the Language fields, and Māori and Pākehā are pinned to the top of the Ethnicity fields.
- With a recent focus on privacy from the MOE, we’ve updated the display of PINs against contact records in Discover. PINs will be obfuscated on the Child Contacts tab and the Edit Profile screen, with an eye icon to reveal the number. Playcentres are not affected by this change. Reports and emails are unaffected, but we highly recommend encouraging parents and guardians to commit these PINs to memory to ensure another user doesn’t access their child’s data.

ECE Census
- The Group Management Statistics page has had a column added to show if centres have submitted their ECE Return, similar to how RS7 submissions are displayed.
- The ECE Returns page has had its logic updated to correctly allow viewing of old submissions and the correct status.
Reports
- We’ve moved the secret hyperlink behind the “Additional Tips” text in the Frequent Absence Report into a “Show More” button. Clicking “Show More” will also expand the Frequent Absence Report to show monthly historical data, identifying any behaviour patterns.
Bug Fixes
- The allergy report now shows the ticks representing attendance for days under the correct days.
- First Aid Expiry Dates will correctly save if they’ve been edited.
- The age at entry for a new enrolment has been looked at to ensure the age is calculating correctly.
- The Last Updated note at the bottom of the enrolment editor will now correctly show who the last person to update the record was when editing the enrolment via the tablet app.

Viewing Tables on Home App
Educators and teachers create learning plans for children in various formats using Playground. This release enables educators and teachers to share plans created as tables with parents directly to the Home app, with tables viewable by parents on both the mobile and web version of Home. Canvases are available on the web version of Home.
